Edible Graduation Hats

My good friend Maria has a little brother (I shouldn't say little, since he towers over both of us...) who happens to have graduated from high school this spring. Naturally, her parents are throwing him a huge graduation bash this weekend to celebrate finally shedding what will later be known as the 'awkward years' of his life.

She enlisted my help preparing some of the desserts for the party, and to fully flow with the graduation theme of the evening, we whipped up some miniature edible graduation hats.

Needless to say, our afternoon was full of reminiscing about our own awkward years, recounting uncomfortable school dances, and eating way to many dented Reeses.
If you want to make your own edible caps for your favorite grad, grab these simple ingredients:

1 package of Reeses miniatures
1 jar chocolate frosting
1 package Twizzlers (or any other form of licorice)
1 package chocolate-covered graham crackers
1 package M&Ms

First, grab your Reeses and start unwrapping them. Place them on a plate with at least 1 inch of space between each one. You don't want them to get too cluttered!

Next, grab your Twizzlers and cut the long strings into 1 1/2 inch sections (these will become the tassels for your hats).

For timing's sake, scoop your chocolate frosting into a plastic bag and clip the corner, making a small hole. Using your makeshift piping bag, put a dollop of frosting on top of each Reeses

My face when thinking about my own high school years....

Once you've got your Reeses topped with chocolate, place a chocolate-covered graham cracker on top of each one.

Grab your piping bag and place another dollop of chocolate frosting in the center of each graham cracker. This is where you'll add your 'tassel' and 'pin.'
Then, take your bag of M&Ms and your cut-up Twizzlers. Place the Twizzler string in the frosting, letting most of it hang off the side of the cracker. Then, top the Twizzler/frosting center with a colorful M&M.

And there you have it! Your very own mini, chocolatey, and delicious graduation cap. Shortly after this picture was taken, I proceeded to eat the whole thing in one bite, so I can personally attest to the fact that these little treats are amazing.
